After leading innovation in the dairy industry for nearly 100 years, Land O'Lakes brings new life to the butter category with Butter with Olive Oil, a new product that combines the natural simplicity and purity of LAND O LAKES® Butter with the goodness of olive oil.
Made from three pure ingredients - cream, olive oil and salt - it is all-natural and has the rich, creamy taste of butter with 50 percent less cholesterol, 0g trans fat per serving, and 45 percent less saturated fat than traditional butter.
"With natural foods and pure ingredients growing in popularity, consumers are looking for foods that are not only delicious, but also contribute to their overall health," said Peggy Ellingson, Vice President of Marketing. "Land O'Lakes Butter with Olive Oil is the first product on the market to combine the delicious taste of real butter and the benefits of olive oil without sacrificing purity with artificial flavors or additives."
LAND O LAKES® Butter with Olive Oil will be available in grocer dairy cases nationwide beginning in mid-May. The product will be available in a seven-ounce, re-sealable tub with a distinctive blue lid.
Much like butter's hallowed place in the American kitchen, olive oil has been a dietary staple worldwide for thousands of years. Once called "liquid gold" by Homer, and "the great therapeutic" by Hippocrates, it has recently gained popularity in American cuisine as well, with health experts praising its high content of "good" fats (monounsaturated) and ability to lower bad (LDL) cholesterol levels.
Americans have adopted olive oil into their daily cooking repertoire, but until now they haven't been able to take advantage of its benefits when spreading butter on toast or baked goods. The introduction of Land O'Lakes Butter with Olive Oil offers the perfect solution - multiplying the uses for olive oil and making butter more spreadable right out of the refrigerator.

SUMMER RISOTTO
Fresh vegetables enhance this Italian-inspired risotto.
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 28 minutes
6 servings
Ingredients
• 1/4 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter with Olive Oil
• 1 1/2 cups uncooked Arborio rice
• 3/4 cup sliced green onions
• 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh garlic
• 3 (14-ounce) cans vegetable broth
• 12 ounces (3 cups) fresh green beans, cut into 1-inch pieces
• 6 medium (1 1/2 cups) Roma tomatoes, chopped
• 3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves (or 1 tsp dried basil)
• 1/2 teaspoon pepper
• Freshly shaved Parmesan cheese, if desired
Directions
--Melt Butter with Olive Oil in 12-inch skillet until sizzling; add rice, green onions and garlic.
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onion is softened (3 to 4 minutes).
--Continue cooking 20 minutes, adding 1 cup vegetable broth at a time, stirring occasionally and waiting until broth is absorbed before adding more.
Stir in green beans; continue cooking and adding broth until rice is tender and all liquid is absorbed (5 to 10 minutes).
--Stir in tomatoes, basil and pepper; continue cooking until heated through (1 minute).
Top with cheese, if desired.
TIP: Arborio rice is used to make risotto, a creamy Italian rice dish. The Italian rice is shorter and fatter than more common long grain rice. It is high in starch which lends to its creaminess.
