MANCHINEEL

The Manchineel or Poison Guava (Hippomane mancinella) is a tropical American tree with attractive, sweet smelling, yellow to red apple like fruit.
DANGER: they are poisonous.  Found on beaches throughout the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, they have been poisoning the unsuspecting for hundreds of years. Carib Indians used the sap to poison their arrows. It is so poisonous that smoke from its burning wood irritates the eyes, and the latex from its leaves and bark causes blisters and skin inflammation.
