Recipes from The Inglenook Cookbook
by The Sisters of the Brethren Church (1906)
Take 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of molasses, 3/4 cup of lard, 3/4 cup of butter, 3 cups of oatmeal, 2 teaspoonfuls of ginger, or if you like flavor with other spice, 1 teaspoonful of soda. Dissolve with 1/2 cup of boiling water. Take flour enough to make stiff. Roll and bake in a moderate oven. Turn pan upside down to bake.
