Recipes from The Inglenook Cookbook
by The Sisters of the Brethren Church (1906)
Break 2 eggs into a large teacup. Put in with the eggs 1 tablespoonful of butter and then fill up the cup with sweet milk. Pour into a vessel and add 1 cup of sugar and 1 3/4 cups of flour with 2 teaspoonfuls of baking powder. Do not stir until all the ingredients have been added, then beat thoroughly. Bake in layers and put jelly or other filling between layers.
