Take 1 pint of molasses, 1 cup of lard, 1 cup of sour or buttermilk, 1 tablespoonful of soda, 1 teaspoonful of ginger. Stir the soda and ginger in the molasses, add the other ingredients, stir in enough flour to make a soft dough. Roll a little thicker than sugar cookies. Cut into cakes, bake in a moderate oven.
