Recipes from The Inglenook Cookbook
by The Sisters of the Brethren Church (1906)
Take 2 eggs, 2 cups of sugar, 2 cups of shortening, 2 cups of sour milk, 1 teaspoonful of salt, 2 teaspoonfuls of soda dissolved in the milk. Add 6 1/2 cups of sifted flour and stir well. Drop pieces about the size of a walnut on greased tins, allowing space for them to spread as they bake. Flavoring of any kind liked may be added.
