Recipes from The Inglenook Cookbook
by The Sisters of the Brethren Church (1906)
Sift 1 cup of flour and 1 teaspoonful of baking powder into a bowl, add 1 tablespoonful of butter; rub the butter and flour together, add 1/2 cup of milk, 1 tablespoonful of sugar and the yolks of 2 eggs; beat the whites of the 2 eggs to a stiff froth, add the batter gradually to the whites. Peel 6 bananas, cut each one into 4 pieces, dip separately into the batter and fry in deep hot lard to a golden color; remove and lay them on paper; serve on a hot dish with sauce.
