Recipes from The Inglenook Cookbook
by The Sisters of the Brethren Church (1906)
Mix thoroughly 1 1/2 pints of sugar with 2/3 pint of flour. Add a little cold milk and 6 eggs beaten very light; stir the whole together. Have 1 quart of sweet milk in a double boiler, let come to the boiling heat, and stir in the above mixture, stirring constantly till it thickens. Strain and add 2 quarts of cream, 1 1/2 quarts of sweet milk and 1 teaspoonful of vanilla or lemon. Freeze, and let it stand 4 or 5 hours before using.
