Take 2 loaves of stale bread, moisten with 1/2 cup of butter, celery, parsley, or sage as preferred; add salt; pepper to taste; or take 2 loaves of stale bread, 1/2 cup of butter, 1 small onion, 2 eggs; season with salt and pepper, celery, parsley, or sage; or let a cup of butter get hot, add the stale bread as required; stir until quite brown; season with salt and pepper,. and put the dressing in the fowl.
