Recipes from The Inglenook Cookbook
by The Sisters of the Brethren Church (1906)
Place over a fire 1 quart of peeled tomatoes. Stew them soft, with a pinch of soda. Work through a sieve so no seeds remain. Set over the fire again, and add a little sugar to suit your taste. Then add a pint of good sweet milk with a large teaspoonful of flour mixed in it, stirring it constantly till it boils. Then add salt and pepper, and butter the size of f walnut. Serve hot over crackers. Canned tomatoes may be used.
