ALCIE MERRITT: Now I am going to talk to you about organic fruits. A lot of people are starting to investigate buying more organic products. And for organic fruits, it necessarily means that you are going to be getting a lower exposure to harmful pesticides.
When you are thinking about buying organic fruits, it is not necessary to buy all organic fruits. But you might want to think about buying some organic fruits that you are going to eat the skin off. Things that you peel off the skin such as bananas, grapefruits, oranges, they are going to have lower pesticides in their skins. Things like apple, strawberries, blueberries where you are actually eating the whole fruit, it might be a good idea to buy organic fruits.
Another thing to consider when buying organic fruits is if you are a child or if you are pregnant, because these stages or our life are much more vulnerable to building up pesticide residues. Organic fruits can be a lot more expensive, so remember that ones you are going to eat the skin off, would be a good thing to buy organic. If you are going to be peeling the skin away, such as a banana, an orange, a pineapple, it is not necessarily important for you to buy those organic foods. These are all reasons why it is healthy to buy organic fruits.
