MICHELLE COOPER: Next, we're going to talk about healthy foods for under a dollar. The first place that you might want to look when you're at the grocery store is to the fruits and vegetables. Here you can get an orange, an apple, a pear or a banana for under a dollar which contain a lot of the nutrients and the vitamins that you need for the day.
Next, you might want to go to the dairy section and grab a single-serving size of yogurt which is under a dollar. It gives you a third of the amount of calcium that you would need in a day. If you are looking for something with a lot of protein or something that's going to give you some energy, you might want to go to the cereal section where you can find cereal bars or granola bars that have protein, nuts, chocolate, something that's going to give you that quick energy fix. So when you're in the grocery store and you find yourself with only a dollar, first, browse the fruits and vegetables and see if there's anything there that you'd like that you can pick up and go with. Secondly, go to the dairy section and see if they have a yogurt or maybe a yogurt bar. And thirdly, try the cereal section, grab a cereal bar or a granola bar that will give you a quick energy fix.
