(September 2009) —To honor its Buffalo heritage, Frank’s® RedHot®, the secret ingredient in the original Buffalo wing sauce created in Buffalo, NY in 1964, has teamed up with Terrell Owens Catch a Dream Foundation, a non-profit organization created to help underprivileged families. Owens, known as T.O., will debut as #81 for the Buffalo Bills during the upcoming NFL pro season. T.O. created the foundation to help families in need reach their full potential.
“We are proud to partner with the Catch a Dream Foundation to help local Buffalo families,” said Mansour Fahmy, Senior Brand Manager for Frank’s RedHot. “The organization offers a breadth and depth of support from providing vouchers for groceries to financing fees for college testing and extra curricular activities. As a brand that started in Buffalo, we are pleased to help local residents get a head start,” he adds.
“T.O. is very proud of his Catch a Dream Foundation and welcomes the support of Frank’s RedHot, a company that shares his love for the great city of Buffalo,” says Kita Williams, Publicist for the foundation.
Frank’s RedHot is a major sponsor of the National Buffalo Wing Festival which takes place September 5-6 and is expected to attract more than 80,000 visitors from all over the country to Coca-Cola Park in Buffalo, NY. Consumers desire for the distinct taste of all things “Buffalo” has risen to a fever pitch making the National Buffalo Wing Festival a true destination. The festival features a variety of activities including the U.S. Chicken Wing Eating Championships and National Wing Sauce-Off Competition. In addition, attendees will learn the savory secrets of lip smacking sauces and the legendary lore surrounding the history of Buffalo wings.
One of this year’s attractions expected to draw huge crowds is the 2nd Annual Celebrity Chef Challenge, sponsored by Frank’s RedHot hot sauce, the secret ingredient used to create the first-ever Buffalo Wings in 1964. The event will feature Kevin Roberts —seen on the Food Network’s “The Next Food Network Star,” executive chef, cookbook author and radio personality—in a rematch against Drew Cerza, aka “The Wing King” and founder of the festival. The competition pits these two celebrity chefs in a heated competition for the bragging rights as the true Buffalo culinary expert. Roberts will also have several solo appearances at the festival where he’ll participate in cooking demonstrations on the Center Stage and as always, involve fans in some of the activities.
Frank’s RedHot is responsible for elevating Buffalo wings from pub grub to a menu mainstay all across America. To find out more about these events and to get a copy of the festival’s complete schedule visit www.buffalowing.com.
