The annual Bun Festival commemorates this ritual with a parade to the grounds near the temple. Towers are studded with sweet white buns. The success of 2009 Xiamen International Vegetarian Regimen Exhibition set off a heating wave of vegetarian regimen in China. Over 80 exhibitors from home and abroad displayed their exquisite vegetarian food. Together with China Xiamen International Buddhist Items & Crafts Fair, it attracted more than 80,000 visitors, including 5,000 businessmen from China mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Europe, the United States, Mongolia, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. The show first opened vegetarian market in mainland China, successfully built a professional vegetarian procurement platform, greatly promoted exchanges inside the vegetarian industry, and really inspired the development of the whole vegetarian industry.

It has combined dining, entertainment, commerce and tourism in one and developed into an international folk festival, attracting tourists and businessmen from home and abroad either for sightseeing or exchanging of cooking skills.
