The Lady apple is a small hard winter apple usually red or green with a generous red blush. They are sweet and juicy, and are perfect for eating out of hand, and for desserts and sauces. Lady apples also make a colorful addition to fruit baskets.
It is one of only a few surviving apple varieties that were also known to the Romans.
Lady apples are available from late October through December and make a colorful decoration during the holiday season. They are also an excellent choice for making apple cider.
