These portable, marinated steak skewers have a bite that knocks the flavor out of the park, while a delicious spicy-sweet dipping sauce helps temper the heat.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Marinate: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 8 minutes
Makes 4 (2-skewer) servings
Ingredients:
2 strip loin steaks, cut 1-inch thick, about 1½ lbs.
3 tablespoons McCormick Ground Mustard
2 tablespoons McCormick Chili Powder
2 teaspoons McCormick Garlic Salt
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 cup beer
3/4 cup smooth applesauce
Directions:
1. Trim fat from steak. Cut each steak crosswise into 3"-long by 1½”-wide chunks. Place in self-closing plastic bag.
2. Combine spices, brown sugar, and beer. Reserve 1/2 cup marinade for dipping. Pour remaining marinade over steak. Refrigerate 30 minutes. Discard marinade used to marinate steak.
3. Place the steak on small wood or metal skewers. Grill or broil over medium-high heat about 3-4 minutes per side until desired doneness is reached. Combine reserved marinade with applesauce to use as a dipping sauce.
Tip: Soak wooden skewers in water prior to grilling to avoid burning.
