Recipes from The Inglenook Cookbook
by The Sisters of the Brethren Church (1906)
Take 1 egg, 2 teacups of white sugar, 2 teacups boiling water, 1 tablespoonful of butter, 2 small tablespoonfuls of corn-starch and 2 lemons. Dissolve the cornstarch in a little cold water, then put it in the boiling water. Add the sugar and let it boil a few minutes. Set aside, and when cool add the butter, egg, and juice and grated rind of the lemons. This makes 3 small pies.
