Take 18 apples, pare and quarter; put 1 layer of apples in a pan, sprinkle 1 teaspoonful of sugar, 1 teaspoonful of butter, and 1 tablespoonful of flour over them. Put in 5 layers of the apples, then pour over them 3/4 teacupful of water. Flavor with lemon to suit the taste; bake in a quick oven; serve while warm.
