Makes 30 (2-1/2-inch) cookies.
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1-1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup molasses
2 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned rolled oats, uncooked
1-3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups dried tart cherries
1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Put margarine and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl.
Mix with an electric mixer on medium speed until well blended.
Add eggs and molasses; mix well.
Combine oats, flour and cinnamon; add to egg mixture.
Mix on medium speed until well blended.
Stir in cherries and walnuts.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet.
Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven 9 to 11 minutes.
Do not overbake.
Cool cookies on a wire rack.
Store in an airtight container. These cookies freeze well.
