Chefs will again partner with hunters, fishermen and farmers to highlight cooking with invasive species and other ingredients sourced from Waipa and the surrounding ‘aina to create one of a kind dishes. The island’s largest agricultural showcase is returning in with a new twist at a different location in Waimea, Hawai‘i Island. Taste of the Hawaiian Range will be at Mana Christian ‘Ohana (Old Kahilu Town Hall) and the adjacent YMCA Minuke Ole Park in Waimea. The Taste will offer all-day agricultural-themed fun and educational activities before culminating with an evening tasting event showcasing locally produced food. Get out your chopsticks and bring your appetite for a one-day taste trip around the world, and celebrate Hawaii's beloved grain at the Hawaii Rice Festival. A full day of activities is planned including cookoffs, contests, demonstrations, and of course, lots of yummy rice dishes to eat. This month long campaign, sponsored by Kona Brewing Co., featured over 100 Restaurant Ambassadors who created a dish or drink and donated a portion of proceeds from the dish to Surfrider Foundation. The Pau Hana will take place at Ka Waiwai Collective and will showcase dishes by Restaurant Ambassadors and established Hawai'i chefs. September 17, 2016 - Huaka'i Mauka - Kaneohe, Hawaii Hui o Ko'olaupoko (HOK) is honored to announce their 3rd Annual Mauka to Makai fundraiser. This year marks the twenty-first year working as a non-profit in Ko'olaupoko with the mission of: protecting ocean health by restoring the 'aina: mauka to makai. We hope you will join us in making our annual fundraiser a continued success. Huaka'i Mauka (journey to the mountains), takes place on the beautiful grounds of Kualoa Ranch. The Mauka event includes an elegant evening on the ranch featuring tours and libations at HOK’s Hakipu'u Stream Restoration Site, followed by a farm to fork dinner prepared by Hawaii’s favorite chefs. In addition, the evening will feature live music, beer and wine, a dessert bar and a robust silent auction. |
