September 6-15, 2024 Kansas State Fair Hutchinson, Kansas The Kansas State Fair will feature over 30,000 entries in competitive exhibitions, national acts, midway, and delicious fair foods. The fair attracts 350,000 visitors each year. Attendance: 350,000 September 7, 2024 Annual Lenexa Spinach Festival - Lenexa, Kansas Lenexa was hailed as the “Spinach Capital of the World” during the 1930s. Each year, we celebrate that part of our history with the annual Spinach Festival, a fun, family-oriented event that draws thousands of visitors from all over the area. It’s a festive day of music, entertainment, arts and antique vendors, food, a recipe contest, kids’ activities and so much more – all set in the beautifully renovated Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park. Attendance: 7,000. September 7, 2024 76th Annual Oxford Lions Club Watermelon Feed Oxford, Kansas The morning starts with a 2-mile and a 10K fun run. Activities continue throughout the day with food stands, crafts, games, a parade and an outdoor dance. September 9, 2024 Taste of Newton - Newton, Kansas Now at Central Plaza Parking Lot #4 (Trinity St.). Restaurants and culinary businesses have an opportunity to showcase their talents by supplying samples of their cuisine. All Sussex County Restaurants are invited to participate in this tasting event. Only limited tickets will be sold. Last year hundreds of people attended and it was a fabulous opportunity for the venues to showcase their menu.

September 28, 2024 Wichita Wagonmasters Downtown Chili CookOff Wichita, Kansas Over 70 teams are expected to compete for the State Championship and winners will advance to the International Chili Cookoff. Enjoy live music, a pepper eating contest, Mr. Hot Stuff and Ms. Chili Pepper competitions and games and rides for the kids. Public tasting begins promptly at noon. We expect to accommodate about 50 teams. To enter the contest your team must submit a completed registration form (download a copy of the registration form). This event WILL fill to capacity - contentants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. No spots are held or guaranteed. The Battle of the Brisket will be held in the parking lot surrounding the Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center, 6200 Martway.
