April 5-7, 2024
11th Annual Boudin Festival
Scott, Louisiana
“Boudin Capital of the World”  The three-day fest kicks off Friday evening with food and entertainment to please all ages: non-stop local music, kids’ activities, food and beverage booths, and, of course, plenty of boudin. Over the course of the weekend, you can shop local crafts, two-step to Cajun and zydeco bands, and watch the kids slide and twirl on the festival’s many carnival rides. And what’s a food fest without contests? Watch babies cruise on all fours at the Diaper Derby, or dare to eat the most boudin in 5 minutes at the Boudin Eating Contest!

April 12-14, 2024  Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival
Ponchatoula, Louisiana
With over 300,000 visitors each year, the festival celebrates the area's strawberry harvest with a large variety of music, delicious Southern food, children's activities, and more.  Attendance: 300,000.

April 12-14, 2024  Jean Lafitte Seafood Festival - Lafitte, Louisiana
The festival will include amazing live music, Louisiana food, swamp tours, kayak rentals, carnival rides and an art walk. The event space includes the town’s Wetland Trace, a boardwalk trail through a 41-acre cypress swamp nature preserve, adjacent to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Swamp Tours will also be offered leaving from the Wetland Trace.

Shreveport, Louisiana

April 20, 2024  19th Annual Crawfish Cook-Off - Slidell, Louisiana
Hospice Foundation of the South’s signature event! This event is a huge part of our budget supporting the Hospice House. Every April the HFOS hosts the Crawfish Cook-Off.  The largest one day event on the Northshore boasts Over 45,000 pounds of crawfish. Crawfish are boiled by 60 teams competing for the title of “Best Crawfish in St. Tammany Parish”.  Celebrity judges as well as the teams  themselves decide the winners. 3 Locally well-known bands entertain the crowds of 8000 plus people every year. The admission includes all the crawfish you can eat and the concert event.  Proceeds directly benefit The Hospice Foundation of the South’s Hospice House. The first and only hospice house in St. Tammany Parish.  Attendance: 8,000.

April 21, 2017 - Sippin' in Sear Sucker - New Orleans, Louisiana
This popular event is back in sartorial style! It's an evening of Southern art, cocktails, food, music and a raffle- to benefit the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Don your best seersucker ensemble--contest for the best outfit.

April 21-23, 2017 - Annual Lecompte Pie Festival - Lecompte, Louisiana
The Pie Capital of Louisiana Presents the Annual Lecompte Pie Festival. The Lecompte Pie Festival is celebrated on the grounds behind the Old Lecompte High School. The annual parade is held on Saturdays. . Line up for the parade is 9:00 am.  Parade starts at 10:00 am. Festival hours are Friday, 3pm-11pm and Saturday, 9am-10pm.  A slice of Louisiana is waiting for you!  Admission: $3.00.

April 2-3, 2016 - FoodFest Street Festival - New Orleans, Louisiana
THE NEXT FESTIVAL WILL BE IN 2018.  Four blocks in the French Market will be lined with dozens of America's best hometown eats from New Orleans and all of Louisiana as well as from all across America, each offering a unique specialty. This is NOT typical and expected festival fare: it is a taste of America's most celebrated dishes, all gathered in one place: a foodie's dream. Portions are right-sized and priced to provide everyone a chance to taste the maximum number of great regional eats as they stroll through the French Market inhaling delicious smells that range from real Texas pit barbecue to Pecan Pie to artisan boudin sausage made by Cajun country's most beloved butchers. There is no admission fee; just bring plenty of appetite!

April 3, 2016 - Beignet Eating Contest - New Orleans, Louisiana
The ultimate French Quarter eating competition! The New Orleans Fire Department will field a team of its top eaters to determine which of them can eat the most beignets in the least amount of time. Whereas normal eaters consume the city's beloved silky fritters in lots of two or three along with cafe au lait, in this fast-paced contest, the men in uniform devour them by the dozen, and the powdered sugar flies! The winning team takes home the World Champion Beignet Eating Belt. And this year, for the first time, the contest will feature an open competition for all who have the appetite and courage to compete in the Beignet Big League.
