I always eat my peas with honey;
I've done it all my life.

This poem is listed as ‘Anonymous’ in all collections of poetry where I have seen it mentioned, such as the Random House book of Poetry; Ring a Ring O'Roses (Flint Public Library), etc.
It is said to be an old Bostonian rhyme, a jump rope rhyme etc.
I have also received emails attributing it to Shel Silverstein and Spike Milligan
