August 15-26, 2024 Alabama Restaurant Week Statewide, Alabama Restaurants around the state invite diners to experience the wonderful culinary scene of Sweet Home Alabama. Participating restaurants will offer specials throughout the week. August 16-17, 2024 Florence Wine Fest Florence, Alabama A beloved celebration of wine, food, and community in downtown Florence, AL. Attendees can explore more than 140 fantastic wines from around the globe, engage with world-renown winemakers and pros, and enjoy local fare from some of the Shoals' best chefs all while soaking in the electric atmosphere of historic downtown Florence. August 16-17, 2024 Franklin County Watermelon Festival Russellville, Alabama Downtown Russellville is home of the Franklin County Watermelon Festival each August. It's a time for a lot of good fun and of course, juicy watermelons that can cool a hot sumer day in the south. It began in 1981 and the carnival-type atmosphere has become a must-do event for thousands. There's plenty of music, a car and truck show, activites for children and competitions, including a watermelon seed-spitting contest. Attendance: 50,000. August 30-31, 2024 54th Annual St. William Seafood Festival Guntersville, Alabama Foley Center. Hosted by St William Catholic Church. Creole-style file' gumbo, Cajun boiled shrimp, fresh crawfish, bbq chicken and fish dinners, hushpuppies and slaw. Began in 1970, the festival has been the primary fundraiser for the church throughout the years. Not only is the freshly prepared food a favorite in the local communities, but also to people coming as far away as Tennessee and Georgia.

Once the tasting starts, contestants taste and vote on their favorite wine.
