September 9-15, 2024 Annual North Alabama State Fair - Muscle Shoals, Alabama The North Alabama State Fair is best described as a family-oriented community event. Agricultural, industrial, cultural, and commercial exhibits are on display. The North Alabama State Fair is operated for the benefit of the community. A major portion of the money spent at the North Alabama State Fair remains in the community. Profits above operation expenses and capital expenditures are donated to charitable organizations. Board members receive no compensation. September 12-14, 2024 42nd Annual Saint George's Annual Middle Eastern Food Festival - Birmingham, Alabama Homemade foods such as humos, Kibbee, Filafil and Baklawa. September 27-28, 2024 50th Annual Winfield Mule Day Festival Winfield, Alabama The tradition was begun in 1975 to honor the hard working mules of the day. Mule Day has grown into a major event not only for the City of Winfield but also for the State of Alabama. Drawing crowds of over 25,000 each year; Mule Day features a variety of activities that appeal to any palate. The keynote event is a the Mule Day parade through the downtown of the city, but there is also live entertainment, car and tractor show, garden tractor pull, flea market, mule judging, arts and crafts, horseshoe tournament, and a carnival. Attendance: 25,000.

September 8, 2019 5th Annual Graze: Birmingham Birmingham, Alabama Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network. ASAN’s annual farm-to-fork picnic fundraiser celebrating the best in Birmingham food! Over 15 farmer-chef pairs collaborate each on a single dish, which they serve in sample sizes to picnickers as they graze from booth to booth in the grassy backyard at Avondale Brewing Company. Graze: Birmingham creates collaborations between area farmers and chefs who are equally committed to quality, craft, and to growing a rich, locally rooted food system. What grows from these collaborations is nothing short of food alchemy! Add in a little live music, local beverages, good company, and Sunday afternoon vibes, and you’ve got a serious celebration. Approximately 400 diverse participants from Birmingham and beyond will come together for an evening, to enjoy the fruits of our dynamic local food system, while raising funds for ASAN’s work to support that same local food system year-round. Organizers announced that the 2016 Ider Mule Day was the last one. September 21, 2017 - The Taste of the South - Atmore, Alabama This event held in a park setting is an evening of entertainment and food prepared by businesses, groups/organizations and individuals. It is known for showcasing some of Atmore's best chefs and cooks! September 30 - October 1, 2017 - PorktoberQue - Dothan, Alabama 'Jurassic Pork' - Oktoberfest meets Barbecue Competition in lower Alabama. KCBS sanctioned BBQ competition. The cook-off is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, a national organization. The Grand Champion winner of Riverfest automatically qualifies for the American Royal World Championship Barbecue Cook-off in Kansas City, Missouri, and is entered into the Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational drawing. Riverfest features more than 70 professional and amateur BBQ cooking teams from across the United States competing for prize money and trophies totaling $20,000. Along with the barbecue competition, the festival includes food vendors, live music and children's activities. Proceeds from Riverfest will benefit charities in Decatur and Morgan County. |
