September 4, 2017 Ider Mule Days - Ider, Alabama
After a successful 30 year run, a popular DeKalb County festival has come to an end. Organizers announced that the 2016 Ider Mule Day was the last one.

This event held in a park setting is an evening of entertainment and food prepared by businesses, groups/organizations and individuals. It is known for showcasing some of Atmore's best chefs and cooks!
September 30 - October 1, 2017 - PorktoberQue - Dothan, Alabama
'Jurassic Pork' - Oktoberfest meets Barbecue Competition in lower Alabama. KCBS sanctioned BBQ competition. Spectators enjoy live music, country and rock bands, an indoor Biergarten, outdoor 'man cave' and loads of shopping opportunities. Barbecue and Bratwurst dominate the food menus from regional vendors, and beer is available in several areas. Kids welcome, many kids activities available.
September 24, 2016 7th Annual Peanut Boil Festival
Luverne, Alabama
The festival includes 'the world's largest peanut boil" and features music, arts & crafts, children's activities as well as delicious food, and over 60,000 pounds of peanuts. (also: www.crenshawcochamber.com/peanutboil/ )
September 11-12, 2015 - 21st Annual Riverfest Barbecue Cook-off
Decatur, Alabama
An official State Barbecue Championship competition. The cook-off is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, a national organization. The Grand Champion winner of Riverfest automatically qualifies for the American Royal World Championship Barbecue Cook-off in Kansas City, Missouri, and is entered into the Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational drawing. Riverfest features more than 70 professional and amateur BBQ cooking teams from across the United States competing for prize money and trophies totaling $20,000. Along with the barbecue competition, the festival includes food vendors, live music and children's activities. Proceeds from Riverfest will benefit charities in Decatur and Morgan County.
