Borlaug International Symposium, which is held each year in conjunction with the awarding of the World Food Prize in Des Moines, Iowa. Known as the "Borlaug Dialogue," this three-day event brings together international experts, policy leaders, business executives and farmers to address cutting-edge issues in food security and nutrition. It has been called "the premier conference in the world on global agriculture." October 31, 2024 Living History Farms Annual Farmstasia Urbandale, Iowa Farmstasia is our annual fundraiser in support of education and outreach programs, and with this year’s theme we thumb our nose at superstition, re-creating a Victorian trend. Triskaideka dinners were a popular way for Victorians to demonstrate that they weren’t scared of black cats, cracked mirrors—or the number 13. In addition to raising funds for programs that serve nearly 23,000 students a year, we will celebrate our Teacher of the Year.
2017 IOWA: OCTOBER 2017 Food & Wine Festivals, Shows & Local Events events waiting for new datesOctober 7, 2017 - The Taco Festival - Des Moines, Iowa A General Admission ticket provides access to taco-topia. Inside the event, you’ll find restaurants dishing out $2 tacos and bars and beverage stations serving margaritas, beer, water, and soda. The entire festival works on a token system – so you will purchase tokens worth $2 each and use those as cash.
