October Wine Month is dedicated to viniferous passions, and packed with events almost every day.  Discover your local crush.  Breathtaking foliage. Seasonal food specialties. History and cultural riches at every turn.  Virginia is a wine destination unlike any other, with more than 230 wineries surrounded by lavish scenery, breathtaking views, quaint small towns and monumental historic sites.  Many restaurants are offering Virginia wines by the glass and other specials.   Join almost 500 retailers in this year's celebration of October Wine Month.

October 5, 2024  21st Annual Powhatan's Festival of the Grape
Powhatan, Virginia
If you love tasting the best of Virginia wines, enjoy savoring food, and listening to the best in live entertainment, all in an enchanting courthouse square, then we hope you will join us for Powhatan’s Festival of the Grape.  We are delighted to offer 30 Virginia Wineries, over 100 juried arts and craft vendors, as well as a variety of live entertainment and a great selection of delicious, regional favorite foods
 


 

October 5, 2024  15th Blacksburg Brew Do - Blacksburg, Virginia
We Do Brew. Do You? The Blacksburg Partnership will hold the annual award-winning Blacksburg Brew Do, a craft beer festival at the First & Main Shopping District. A plethora of craft beer will be available from at least 40 local, Mid-Atlantic, and national craft- and micro-breweries. Attendees will savor culinary delights from local restaurants and enjoy home brewing demonstrations, live music, tailgating fun, and the culmination of the 5th annual Brew Do Homebrew Competition.

October 5, 2024  Yorktown Wine Festival - Historic Yorktown, Virginia
This event, held at Yorktown Riverwalk Landing, will showcase some of Virginia's finest wineries.  New this year Craft Beer Garden.  Sample some local craft brews or purchase a glass of your favorite.

October 10-13, 2024  46th Annual Suffolk Peanut Festival
Suffolk, Virginia
This family-friendly event honors the city’s agriculture heritage and devotion to peanuts, our favorite legumes. With something for everyone, the festival is host to as many as 200,000 visitors over four days.  Attendance: 200,000.

October 11-13, 2024  Hands and Harvest Festival
Highland County, Virginia
A Weekend of activity and entertainment. Come and observe for yourself the mountain forests of Virginia's Western Highlands transformed into a rich palette of russet, gold, and scarlet. Seasonal foods, including apple dumplings, barbecues, Allegheny Mountain Trout, and homemade baked goods will be available in the historic districts of Monterey and McDowell. Take time to explore the back roads by enjoying one of Highland County's Scenic Driving Tours or Barn Quilt Trails.

October 12, 2024  51st Annual Chincoteague Island Oyster Festival
Chincoteague, Virginia
All you can eat from Noon to 4 p.m. OYSTERS, OYSTERS, OYSTERS... on the half shell, steamed, single fried, fritters, clam chowder, clam fritters, steamed crabs, salad bar, french fries, hush puppies, hot dogs, Coke.

October 12, 2024  14th Annual Chesapeake Virginia Wine Festival
Chesapeake, Virginia
Sample Virginia’s finest and International wines from a souvenir glass; make food purchases from an abundance of high quality, distinctive restaurants and caterers;enjoy exceptional works offered by invited artists and crafts persons; and revel in continuous live entertainment. The Chesapeake Virginia Wine Festival is the largest fund raising activity held by the Chesapeake Rotary Club. Each year numerous charities are selected as recipients of the net proceeds of the Wine Festival

October 12, 2024  Taste of Brunswick Festival - Alberta, Virginia
On the Cambus of Southside Virginia Community College.  According to legend, Brunswick Stew was invented in Virginia in the 1830's as a concoction of squirrel, onions and stale bread. In today’s version chicken has replaced squirrel and the stew is rounded out with corn, tomatoes, butterbeans, and other vegetables. Each year in Alberta (Brunswick County, Va.) some 25-30 stewmasters vie for top honors – to the delight of thousands. Games, rides, horse show, antique tractors, live music and more.  Attendance: 10,000.

October 18-20, 2024  Annual Poquoson Seafood Festival
Poquoson, Virginia
The Poquoson Seafood Festival which began as a small celebration of the Poquoson Waterfront Community featured an art show at a local marina over 30 years ago.  Today the festival is a large annual event in the City of Poquoson. The festival draws nearly 50,000 people over the three days it is held. The Festival is a dedicated to preserving the heritage of the Chesapeake Bay Working Waterman.  The Festival is enjoyed by both residents and visitors from a wide geographic area. The festival features over 150 arts and crafts vendors, nearly 25 seafood Food Vendors, and a variety of commercial vendors throughout. There is a wide variety of seafood for every palate, and entertainment scheduled throughout the  weekend.  Attendance: 50,000.

October 19, 2024  Hop N Hog Culpeper Block Party & BBQ Competition
Culpeper, Virginia

The Virginia Beach Craft Beer Festival, will be held In a huge tent on the beach at 30th Street, our location is conveniently near parking at the municipal garage across the street.  Live music sets the stage for the perfect outdoor setting for tasting some of the best beer brewed! Over 50 craft beers from over 25 breweries are available for sampling.

October 27, 2019  Harvest Stew & Stout Festival - Henrico, Virginia
For 2019, we are opening up Harvest Stew & Stout to all types of stews! Vegetarian, Brunswick, Gumbo – we want them all! We are excited to announce the official location of this year’s festival is Dorey Park, 2999 Darby Town Road, Henrico, VA, at Shelters 1 & 2.  The Harvest Stew & Stout Festival supports the Enrichmond Foundation’s mission of serving Richmond’s people, parks and public spaces.  Entry Fee: $1 suggested entry donation to Enrichmond keeps the stew coming! Enrichmond is a 501(c)(3) public charity.  Feel free to bring lawn chairs – we’ll have live music and tents to kick back under. Your four-legged friends are welcome – they must be socialized and leashed. This is a rain or shine event!

Reston, Virginia
Over 5,000 jack o’ lanterns will be on display in beautiful Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, VA. Jack monitors the trail traffic carefully so he only allows a certain amount of guests to enter at one time. There are a limited number of tickets for each slot and advanced tickets are required. The KIWS Rotary Club annual fundraiser. Join Salty the Pelican for an all-you-can-eat buffet, including numerous varieties of seafood side dishes and beverages, as well as live dance music.  Attendance: 2,000.

The annual Northern Virginia Fall Brewfest (NOVA) Fall Brewfest is a "World Beer Celebration" with live outdoors music, crafters, food and of course, lots of great craft brews to sample! It's the biggest and best beer and music festival in Northern Virginia!

October 3, 2015  War of the Wings - Virginia Beach, Virginia
Annual War of the Wings promotes the best wing restaurants throughout Hampton Roads. BOB FM, 96X, US 106, WNIS, and WTAR will have listeners lining up to sample wings and vote for their favorites. Live music, adult beverages, prizes, giveaways, children's activities, and, of course, discovering the best wings in town are all part of the day's activities.

October 17-18 & 24-25, 2015  Tysons Fall Harvest - Tysons, Virginia
Stroll through the arts and crafts booths and taste some of the fun flavors of Fall.  The kids will enjoy all the fun activities and rides.  The adults will enjoy the Wine and Beer tastings.  Everyone will enjoy the demonstrations by the Master Pumpkin Carvers while they prepare for the evenings Great Pumpkin Gathering. It is all here for the reaping……bring your family and friends and carve out some special memories.
