December 1-31, 2024  Annual Vintage Christmas in Portsmouth
Portsmouth, New Hampshire
A month of strolls, shows and stayovers in the historic seaport of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Listed as “one of the Top 100 Events in North America” (American Bus Association) and  “one of the Top Ten Things not to miss in New England” (Boston Globe), Vintage Christmas in Portsmouth has people returning year after year. The signature event is the Candlelight Stroll on special nights in December when the quaint lanes of Strawbery Banke Museum are aglow with hundreds of luminaries, the historic homes are festively decorated, and alluring scents and sounds of the holiday season fill the air. Vintage Christmas in Portsmouth also offers live holiday shows, opera broadcasts and films in The Music Hall’s landmark Historic Theater and the new intimate Music Hall Loft on Congress Street, and welcoming stays in the elegant and delightful holiday downtown.

Get into the holiday spirit with our cookie tour! Visit 9 local inns and businesses to taste their homemade treats. Each participant will receive recipe cards of the treats offered. Refreshments will be provided as well.
 


 

December 14-15, 2024  27th Annual Inn to Inn Holiday Cookie & Candy Tour - Mt. Washington Valley, New Hampshire
Participants will not only tour inns decked in all their holiday finery offering signature holiday cookies and candies, but will also include recipes from each inn and a chance to win a $250 gift certificate for a getaway at the inn of your choice.  Stay at one of the participating inns and you'll also receive a keepsake ornament . Chosen by editors of New Hampshire Magazine as “The Best Sugar High”, proceeds from the event will benefit area nonprofit associations.

EVENT CANCELED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS.  NH Annual Open Doors: A Statewide Shopping & Touring Event.  Experience the creativity and timeless traditions of New Hampshire during NH Open Doors when local artists, craftspeople, cultural organizations, retail shops, wineries, restaurants, lodging establishments and businesses will open their doors to the public, showcasing the best that New Hampshire has to offer. To help visitors plan their self-guided tour, the NH Open Doors website will feature an interactive map listing participants by region. Participants will be hosting special events, including craft demonstrations and workshops, hayrides, food samplings, special menus featuring local foods, musical performances, special lodging packages, and more.

December 6-15, 2019 - Christmas with the Canterbury Shakers Tours
Canterbury, New Hampshire
Visit Canterbury Shaker Village for a guided candlelit tour highlighting the Shakers’ Christmas traditions. During the 200 years that Shakers lived at Canterbury Shaker Village their Christmas traditions evolved and changed. Explore the evolution of the Shakers’ Christmas celebrations – from simple religious services in the 19th century to holiday decorations and elaborate theatricals in the 20th century – on this 60 minute guided tour, which ends with cookies and hot cider in one of our decorated historic buildings.  December 6, 8, 13, & 15, 2019.  Times: Tours at 6:30pm & 7:00pm.  Tickets: $15 for adults, $7.50 for children ages 6-17, Village members half price. Suggested for ages 12+. Advance registration required.

December 7 & 14, 2019  Christmas at Canterbury
Canterbury, New Hampshire
Christmas at Canterbury is a chance to experience the delights of Christmas in a simpler era. Join us inside the historic Shaker buildings to watch an old-time 19th Century magic show, meet Father Christmas, make Christmas-inspired crafts, admire a toy train display or listen to fiddlers. Enjoy hot cider and singing Christmas carols as we light the Village Christmas tree. This classic holiday event is a family favorite that will become a yearly tradition!  December
